“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." (John 15:5)
"Handing the grapes to the youth"
Where did this thing come from? Did the quality of this grape come about as an accident, or was it tended?
In the John 15, Jesus describes himself and Vine. Based on the historical aspect, the vine is a powerful symbol and whenever Jesus mentioned the Vine, the disciples could immediately identify the symbol of Vine. the vine was a symbol of Israel itself and there are so many passages talks about the bad fruit of the vine that indicates the spiritual status of Israel.
Furthermore, Jesus mentions that we are branch of the vine. There are few things that we have to remember on the relationship between the vine and the branches.
Vine is the Source of Life and Healing
The vine is the source of the nourishment for the branches. If there is no nourishment for the branches, it will die. A branch cannot survive on its own. because it has no root. In other word, the branch is not connected to the source of life. Not only it gets the life itself, it is also get healed by the vine. The branch cannot produce its own life; it must draw that life from the vine. It is our communion with Christ through the Spirit that makes possible the bearing of the fruit. How many of you see people who are Spiritually dead?
If we believe the Christ, we all have life, however, many people don’t know that Jesus has the healing power as well. Jesus has done many ministries, however, He also has healed people so many times. Sometimes, we do get lost when we get hurt, it could be spiritual or emotional. But we have to remember that we are connected to the vine and the vine provides the sources for healing.
If you have not been the branch of the true vine, let’s be a branch today and experience the life. If you already became a branch, let’s check how healthy your branch is.
I want all of us to experience the healing power of the true vine in your life.
Vine is the Source of Fruit
Think about it. you just as the fruit of the vine. The each branch could have the fruit because it was connected to the vine. If it was not connected, it won’t bear any fruit because it is the vine that draw the nourishment for the plant as whole and provides life to each branch, which produce the fruit. That is a duty for branches need to carry, which is producing the fruit. We are not just believing God for the eternal life, or just being a fat baby and just waiting for the food to be fed.
The branch can’t be vine neither be fruit. Each branch has a role!! what branch can do is to produce the fruit. As branch gets the nourishment, the branch is working whatever it got and work hard to produce it. If the branch does not do their job, it will be thrown and burnt in the fire. Because if the branches does not bear the fruit, it means the branch is not alive and they are just wasting the nourishment and bothering other branches. So, the gardener will cut that off.
When we accept Jesus Christ, we become children of God and we become the branch. he gave the right to become children of God. We are connected to the Vine and without the vine, we are dead and useless. We are not going to have life by ourselves. We are alive by the source of life that comes from the Lord through Holy Spirit right now.
We must not be fake branch. The gardener knows everything. Let’s have God’s life in us. Without Jesus, you are as dead as a branch that has been severed. With Jesus, and in Jesus, you have the opportunity to produce much good fruit that lasts forever. And we have to describe as a good healthy, productive branch.
